Last year, Roy Maloy, the author of over 12 true crime books asked me to write a chapter for his book called “The Australian Ripper”.
To say I was stoked was an understatement.
I have wanted to write books since I was a teenager although I never knew what to write about and it was piled in the maybe one day pile as I became an adult, wife and mother.
Even more special was to write about a particular criminal who had fascinated me ever since I first heard of his story about a decade ago. He has since become my favourite serial killer (doesn’t everyone have one!) – Frederick Bailey Deeming.
It was quite daunting to begin with as there is so much information on Deeming. But I tackled it the same way I do all my research which is to timeline the events from primary sources where available.
Then came the writing – which took me a lot longer than it should have lol
The end result is about 15000 words on the life and crimes of Deeming which is included in Roy’s Dawn of Crime series, this one being book six.
If you would like to read what we both wrote, you can purchase it from the link below or from places like the Geelong Gaol Museum or Old Melbourne Gaol.
Let me know what you think!
