What a Year …… So Far!

Hey to everyone who is still here!

I promise I am still in the land of the living – but what a year 2024 has been so far and with more still to come!

I have finally managed to put up a new podcast on the fabulous Cecilia Curtain and I promise I am working on the next one as we speak.

This year has seen a lot of new events with my good friend Roy Maloy (check out Roy Maloy – True Crime Author on Facebook).

Most of these have been dressing up in costume as Madam Murder and presenting as a supporting act to Roy with the Criminal Outsider events all over Victoria. We even took it to the Adelaide Fringe Festival and won a weekly award.

These events explore those people from our history that are on the outside of criminality, not the ones you would normally think of. For myself I have presented several cases and am now moving more onto the women’s stories both as victims and perpertrators.

Roy has a fabulous way of presenting his areas of crime with a live demonstration of some historical weapons and other niche criminals.

Keep an eye out for the next of these events at https://criminaloutsider.lockedupwithhistory.com.au

But perhaps the most exciting event for me has been watching Roy’s Vendetta 19 script come alive for film over the past few months. Mind you that has meant many early mornings for me (how is a 4am start even legal! lol) as I have opened the Geelong Gaol up for them to transform into a variety of locations including a Pentridge workshop from 1908

Vendetta 19 is about to premiere in October and November 2024 and I would love to see some of you there – I will be there at most of them.

On top of that I have also been writing stories for the next book with Roy which will be called Black Widow. We are looking at the stories of women who have killed and I have in particular been looking at those who have been executed in Australia.

These stories will become the basis of the future Criminal Outsider events so we can explore these stories in more depth with you and demonstrate some of the methods that were used.

And with all of this, I am still managing the Geelong Gaol Museum and Twisted History and constantly researching! I am lucky to have had some fabulous volunteers who are helping me to transcribe a lot of records that have been sitting on my computer for a very long time!

You will also find me at the Gaol most weekends delivering an Escape tour or a Locked up with History tour – again I would love to meet some of you so please make yourself known to me if you are ever at the Gaol when I am there!

If you have made it this far, I hope to see you at the Geelong Gaol or a future event very soon!
